Make sure everyone is okay
If immediate care is needed dial 9-1-1. If injuries are non-life-threatening, then exchange information with the drivers involved in the accident. Use your phone or a camera to take pictures of the damage to cars, damage to the road or road structures (including skid marks, broken pieces of the cars) and take pictures of any bruising or cuts on you or the other people involved in the accident. Also take pictures of the license plates, and anyone else on scene. Be sure to record names, phone numbers, addresses of all witnesses and the people involved in the accident.
Schedule an appointment with a doctor
This can be your Primary Care Physician or a Chiropractic Physician. Even if you don’t feel like there is much pain, you should still be seen to make sure there are no underlying injuries and to document your condition. You can schedule an appointment with a Chiropractor up to a few months after the initial accident, although the longer you wait to get treated the more complicated the case usually is in regards to both your injuries and insurance covering treatment.
Take responsibility: You know your body better than anyone else. If you don’t feel right, but your medical doctor says, “You’re fine, it will get better with time and drugs,” then get a second opinion. Many times medical doctors utilize prescription drugs or physical therapy, but this doesn’t treat the underlying cause if your bones and joints and out of alignment and your body movement is compensating. Our treatment involves the natural healing approach, so you can have long-lasting relief. Most injuries don’t heal properly without professional medical help.
Be Proactive
Always be careful when talking to insurance adjusters; although many are good at their job and want to help, it is not uncommon for some of them to be misleading. Yes, they are friendly, but remember their job is ultimately to get the insurance company to pay as little it can. Usually it is best to let your doctor or lawyer do the communicating with the claims adjuster, as it is not uncommon for people to misspeak, which can significant affect the claim.
Watch what you post
Most attorneys recommend stopping all social media until the case is settled. Things you put out to the public can be used against you in regards to how the accident has affected you; it is the easiest way for insurance companies to hurt your claim.
Example: a driver boasts on Facebook about “being fine” after an accident, however pain doesn’t begin until a week later. This person also deletes the post about “being fine.” Insurance can deny treatment because the person “wasn’t hurt from the accident” and the deleting of the post may be considered by court to be “spoliation” (deliberately destroying of evidence related to the case).
Auto Injuries Often Sustain Neck Pain
Our neck pain treatment starts with muscle work or massage to first loosen up the area. Our care often comes with less side effects than standard medical care.
What Works
Low back pain chiropractic treatment has been shown to be much more cost effective, costing approximately 40% less than standard medical care while getting better results, according to the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics.
Why is it constant?
Headaches can often be contributed to another main issue of a dislocated rib joint, and inflammation caused by the auto accident. Allowing a professional to assess the root of your headaches will offer a large relief.
Common symptoms of auto injury
Arm, shoulder and wrist pain is a common symptom of auto injuries. Our chiropractors and licensed massage therapists are trained and specialize in methods to relieve extremity pain.
What is it really?
This large, long nerve in the human body emerges from the spine out of the low back region. Running through the glute muscles, it is the longest nerve as it travels down to your lower leg. Its primary function is to maintain the muscles within that area.
Make it stop!
Numbness and tingling at shoulders, back, arms, and legs is a very common result of an auto accident. Your licensed chiropractor will perform gentle adjustments, along with electrode therapies and massage to support your compressed nerves and tight muscles back to health.
How common is this really?
The true description of "whiplash" is known as neck sprain or neck strain. This occurs when a sudden force stretches and tears the muscles and tendons in your neck. This is very common and equally serious. Many will experience soreness and stiffness at the nech, completely unaware as to how severe their injuries really are.
It's just swelling...right?
Our chiropractic and massage care provides gentle and safe options for these types of injuries. Swelling around the effected area is common, but not always the end of it. Strains to the muscle can cause related numbness, headache, and life long pains. Don't suffer in silence!
