This is a subtitle for your new post
Herniated lumbar and cervical discs are see somewhat regularly in a Chiropractic clinics. Working as a Tigard Chiropractor, also as one in Tualatin for 3 years prior to moving his practice into Tigard, I’m quite familiar with the condition. Herniated discs come in a variety of presentation, sometimes a dull roar while other times completely debilitating. From pain with bending or sitting to being stuck in a hunched over position unable to move, we’ve seen quite a bit at our Tigard Chiropractors & Massage Clinic.
At this point in history a less invasive approach to herniated lumbar discs has never been more in demand. Patients, doctors, and insurance companies have seen what the last two decades of cut-first-rehab-later approach does for long term low back pain. And that is….it doesn’t do much! In fact many studies have shown that the conservative and non-invasive care has the same outcomes as surgeries for the long-term in regard to low back pain from herniated discs.
There are many different types of conservative care which can be done by a Chiropractor, including the following to help a disc herniation:
Chiropractic adjustments: to areas surrounding the injured disc to take pressure off the area, as well as light mobilization to the injured area to help re-align the disc.
Home exercises: to help gradually reposition the spine to allow the disc to be in the best position to reduce. Electrical muscle stimulation, muscle work, and kinesiotaping: decrease the tightness and pressure surrounding the injured disc area, which will take pressure off the disc and allow it to heal.
